Appeals Policy

Platform access appeals, server-local appeal boundaries, and review standards.

Last updated: 2026-06-21

1. Overview

APEX supports appeal-review workflows for platform/dashboard restrictions and may support or reference server-local appeal workflows where appropriate.

APEX appeals are review processes. They do not guarantee access restoration, record deletion, server reinstatement, or a particular moderation outcome.

2. Platform/Dashboard Access Appeals

If a user's APEX dashboard access is restricted due to a reviewed safety status or related safety review, the user may submit a platform appeal-review request.

APEX may review account identifiers, link status, safety status, appeal history, correction history, audit records, and other relevant safety context.

3. Server-Local Quarantine Appeals

Some communities may have Discord-local quarantine or moderation appeal workflows. These are separate from APEX platform appeal-review unless APEX later supports a specific integrated workflow.

A server-local appeal is generally handled by that server's authorized staff under the server's rules.

APEX platform appeal-review concerns APEX dashboard access and platform-level safety review.

4. Appeal Review Standards

APEX may consider:

  • whether the account link appears accurate
  • whether the safety status is outdated
  • whether the record appears incomplete
  • whether the user provided relevant context
  • whether prior decisions should be reviewed
  • whether safety, audit, legal, or anti-evasion reasons require continued restriction
  • whether a correction workflow is more appropriate

5. Automated or Semi-Automated Signals

APEX may use automated or semi-automated safety signals to help identify accounts for review.

Severe or lasting restrictions should be subject to human review, appeal review, or correction review where appropriate.

APEX should not treat automated signals as final determinations without appropriate safeguards.

6. Decision Messages

APEX may provide safe user-facing decision messages.

These messages may explain the general outcome but will not disclose private evidence, confidential reports, detection methods, thresholds, provider internals, staff-only notes, legal hold data, or information that could compromise safety systems.

7. Access Restoration and Revocation

APEX may restore, reduce, or maintain restrictions after review.

APEX may later restrict access again if new safety information, misuse, evasion, abuse, or legal obligations require it.

8. Relationship to Correction Requests

If an appeal-review request suggests that a record is inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, or linked to the wrong account, APEX may direct the user to submit a correction request or may handle the issue through the appropriate correction workflow where available.

9. Requests and Contact

Appeal-review requests should be submitted through the dashboard where available.

Contact information is available on the APEX Contact page.

Requests and Contact

APEX provides request paths for privacy, deletion, correction, objection, and appeal-review concerns. Use the dashboard where available.

If you cannot access the dashboard, use the contact information on the Contact page. APEX may need to verify account ownership before disclosing, deleting, correcting, or reviewing account-related information.

POLICY STATUS

These policies describe APEX's current public posture and may change as the service evolves. Jurisdiction-specific terms and planned workflows remain subject to qualified legal review.
